Cable Test Termination System
Laboratory tests specifically designed for type and routine testing of 66 kV to 500 kV and higher XLPE high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables
Uses
Laboratory tests specifically designed for type and routine testing of 66 kV to 500 kV and higher XLPE high-voltage and extra-high-voltage cables
· AC withstand
· PD test
· Dielectric Loss (tanδ) Test
· Lighting Impulse & Switching Impulse
Function
Electric field distortion is eliminated by stripping the outer semiconductor shield from the cable end; deionized water is used as a resistive equalizing medium to uniform the terminal electric field, thereby preventing end-of-cable flashover and partial discharge from interfering with test results.Multi-purpose oil terminals for 35 kV and below; water terminals required for type testing of cables rated at 110 kV and above (IEC 60840, IEC 62067, GB/T 22078).
Each system consists of two water cable test terminations and one water conditioning unit.
Characteristics
Comparison with Oil-filled test termination
Project | Water termination | Oil‑filled test termination |
Rated Voltage | 66kV‑500kV+ | ≤110kV,Mostly used for 35 kV and below |
Medium | Closed-loop deionized water | Insulating Oil |
Partial Discharge Performance | Excellent, suitable for PD/tanδ | Higher voltages are more likely to generate partial discharge noise. |
Equipment Complexity | High; must be equipped with a water conditioning circulation systemv | Simple, static oil filling |
Body Length | 2.5‑3m | 0.5‑1.2m |
